YU Yutopia’s latest teaser hints at a big battery, mocks Apple’s iPhones again: Specifications and features

In September, BGR India exclusively revealed YU’s plans of launching a flagship smartphone called Yutopia. Since then, the company has been teasing the smartphone in bits and pieces. Now, with the latest teaser, YU has once again taken a dig at Apple’s iPhones for their battery life.

The tweet says, “High on price, low on juice! High time; #ThinkDifferent #RaiseTheBar! #Yutopia.” The photo shows the Apple logo with low battery indication and a caption that reads, “Would you enjoy an apple that doesn’t last long?” This could be a hint pointing that the smartphone could come equipped with a higher-capacity battery.

From the previous teasers, YU has hinted that the Yutopia is set to sport metal unibody design with chamfered edges. Other teasers hinted that the smartphone is expected to come with a QHD display, an expandable storage option and a battery with fast charging capability.

It is worth pointing out that all YU smartphones released so far have been priced well under Rs 10,000. With Yutopia being a flagship smartphone, it could be the company’s first handset to break that price barrier. The company has already started taking registrations on its website, and mentioned that the Yutopia won’t be sold via flash sales.

As per the previous leaks, Yutopia could come equipped with a 5.2-inch QHD display and powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB of RAM.

  

On the photography front, the smartphone could sport a 21-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS are expected to be present. At the launch, it could run on CyanogenMod 12 OS based Android 5.1 Lollipop.

As of now, there’s no information on the launch date, price and availability. However, the way YU is teasing the smartphone over the past couple of months, the official launch should not be far off.

Telenor launched Unlimited video, music service, prices start at Rs. 2

As entertainment is one of the primary drivers of Internet traffic in India today, Telenor has launched a music and video streaming service in the country that allows subscribers to stream unlimited videos on YouTube and Dailymotion between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am for as low as Rs 2 per day.

Apart from this, Telenor is also providing unlimited music streaming at Rs 41 from Hungama Music and Eros Now music. A user can avail this service for a period of 28 days. The Norway-headquartered company also revealed that to prevent any bill shock if the caching continues after 7:00 am, the customers will be charged at 2paisa/20 KB with a cap of Rs 5 for that day.

Asserting that nearly 60% of data users access entertainment applications on their mobile, Amaresh Kumar, chief product officer, Telenor India, said, "Our new packs have been designed to offer affordable and value for money access to unlimited music and videos without worrying about volume of data used. With this we reinforce our vision to make Internet services affordable and easy to access for the masses."

“At night, voice traffic is low and we will be able to provide speeds between 150 kbps and 200 kbps. We are also using various compression and caching technologies to improve the experience. Users can save videos for offline viewing or can even download them at night to view them the next day without any buffering,” Telenor India CPO Amaresh Kumar said.

"Currently 22% of Telenor's subscribers use data services on their mobile devices and we expect this to grow to over 50% by 2017," added Kumar.

Huawei Mate 8 with 6-inch display, 4,000mAh battery; Specification & Feature

Huawei today launched the Mate 8, which the company proudly says is its ‘most advanced flagship smartphone’. There’s no word on the pricing, but the company says the Mate 8 is going on sale in China, and the global variant will be unveiled at CES 2016.

The Mate 8 is a new premium offering by Huawei, this phablet is actually made out of metal, and it actually sports a metal unibody design. To be more specific, the Mate 8 is made out of aerospace-grade aluminum and unique 2.5D curved diamond cut glass according to the company. As you can see in the images down below, the bezel on the sides is absolutely minimal, it’s almost non-existent, which definitely helps the handset look even sleeker (83% screen-to-body ratio).

Specification :

The smartphone flaunts a 6-inch full HD IPS display with 83 percent screen-to-body ratio and is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 950 octa-core (2.3GHz Cortex-A72 quad-core + 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) chipset.

The smartphone also features an i5 co-processor that the company says supports ‘speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, all the functions of a sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation, and reduces location-based power consumption’, and Mali-T880 GPU.

Also on offer are 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage options, microSD card slot to expand the storage up to 128GB, and 3GB and 4GB of RAM. On the photography front, it features a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

It also features a 4,000mAh battery that the company says is good enough for up to 18 hours of talk time and 22 days on standby mode, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.2. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under EMUI 4.0.

Nokia C1 Renders, Runs Android & Windows 10

Last year, Nokia made a comeback of sorts with the N1 Android-based tablet, and we’ve also been hearing about the C1 Android smartphone. Now, a new Nokiapoweruser report points out at the possible renders claiming to be the Nokia C1.

What caught our attention is the device will be made available in two variants – one running Android and the other with Windows 10. The Android variant shows the Z Launcher UI. The leaked image render for the Nokia C1 shows the handset in White, Gold, Pink, and Grey colour variants.

In addition, while a leaked image from September showed the smartphone's rear camera at the centre, the latest render shows it placed on the top-left corner. Since Nokia is still silent on the matter, the latest leaked render should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Specification :

The Nokia C1 is tipped to include a 5-inch FHD display, an 8-MP rear camera, and a 5-MP front-facing camera. It is said to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well. Previous reports have suggested that the Nokia C1 will be powered by an Intel chipset and feature 2GB of RAM.

To remind you about the Microsoft-Nokia acquisition agreement, the Finnish company Nokia can no longer use the Nokia brand on smartphones till Q4 2016, and on feature phones for 10 years. To bypass the restriction, Nokia may very well launch the smartphone under a different brand.

Microsoft had completed the acquisition of the devices and services division of Nokia in in April this year. After the deal, Nokia was left with its core network equipment and services business, HERE mapping and navigation unit, and Nokia Technologies. Since then the two new consumer-facing products from Nokia have been the Z Launcher and the N1 tablet.

Earlier this month, Nokia announced its HERE maps app will only be developed by it for Android and iOS, while Microsoft would take over development of the application for the Windows Phone platform.

 

Google might work with Samsung to optimize TouchWiz

One of the biggest problems facing Google and Android for a long time now has been fragmentation with smartphone makers working on their own UI skins and customization to differentiate their products from others. These UI elements, however, also lead to slow OS upgrades, which is visible from Google’s Android version statistics that are released every month. In a bid to change that, Google could be working with Samsung to help with its TouchWiz UI, unconfirmed reports suggest.

Samsung, which is the world’s largest smartphone maker, is feeling the impact from commoditization of Android smartphones as Chinese rivals are adding to their market share by offering lower priced smartphones.

Samsung still sells the majority of Android smartphones, though Lenovo and Xiaomi are catching up. That means TouchWiz is the interface most Android customers will use something Google no doubt doesn’t enjoy. Even on high-end smartphones, TouchWiz still has memory struggles, despite the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 being packed with 4GB of RAM each.

At the same time, more Google influence on Samsung’s software team might improve and eventually move TouchWiz to a more “stock-like” interface. Motorola, OnePlus, and LG have already started sticking to Google’s prefered UI design, with small changes and improvements instead of massive customizations.

The Korean smartphone maker’s intentions haven’t gone unnoticed in Mountain View and discussions seem to have been happening from as long as January 2014 when Samsung showed off its Magazine UI at CES, much to the displeasure of Google’s management. Samsung and Google then reached an agreement where Samsung backed off a little when it came to coming up with its own apps that rivaled Google’s core services.

Things looked good for a while, when Samsung announced a flatter, less bloated version of TouchWiz UI later that year with the Galaxy S5. The smartphone maker, however, also partnered with Microsoft to have its Office suite and cloud services pre-installed and prominently displayed on the home screen, which again undermined Google.

Google helping Samsung optimize TouchWiz UI could possibly be a win-win situation for both the companies. Samsung would get some much-needed UI help that would make the user experience more in sync with the latest Android UI and could also lead to faster roll out of OS updates. For Google, it would ensure that its largest partner sticks to Android and more importantly, to its vision of Android.

  

Li-Fi networks that deliver 100 times faster data speeds than Wi-Fi

Scientists have been working on different ways to boost the wireless data transfers. One of the new technology that has been in the works for years is the Li-Fi, a new wireless technology that is capable of transferring high-speed data via visible light communication. While the technology has been tested already, researchers at Estonian hardware start-up Velmenni now successfully conducted a commercial test of the technology. Researchers managed to achieve transmission speeds of 1 gigabits per second, which is about 100 times faster than the average Wi-Fi speeds.

“We are doing a few pilot projects within different industries where we can utilise the VLC (visible light communication) technology,” Deepak Solanki, CEO of Estonian tech company, Velmenni, told IBTimes UK.

“Currently we have designed a smart lighting solution for an industrial environment where the data communication is done through light. We are also doing a pilot project with a private client where we are setting up a Li-Fi network to access the Internet in their office space.”

Researchers have also developed smart LED bulbs, called Jugnu, that will be used to transfer data through the visible lights. Also, they are working on an Android app that would be used for controlling the smart LED bulbs.

“A GUI was developed in MATLAB and a receiver circuit was made using Arduino and photodiodes. We successfully transferred a text file using this method. We only had to keep your micro-control board in front of the laptop screen (GUI) and the data was transferred wirelessly using visible light communication,” researchers said in their report.

What is Visible Light Communication

Li-Fi uses visible light communications or infrared or near ultraviolet instead of radio frequency waves to transfer data at faster speed. The technology uses visible light between 400 and 800 THz (780–375 nm). It can be emitted using by switching bulbs on and off, since it happens in nanoseconds it doesn’t get noticed by the human eye.

It works basically like an incredibly advanced form of Morse code - just like switching a torch on and off according to a certain pattern can relay a secret message, flicking an LED on and off at extreme speeds can be used to write and transmit things in binary code.

The trials come less than nine months after researchers at Oxford University achieved bi-directional speeds of 224 Gbps in a lab environment.

To put that in context, a speed of 224 Gbps would allow users to download eighteen 1.5GB movies in a single second. 

Li-Fi doesn’t intend to replace Wi-Fi in the near future, but comes with own set of advantages, especially the security. Since light waves cannot penetrate walls, the technology becomes much more impactful for shorter range, preventing problems such as hacking that commonly hurt Wi-Fi networks.

IIT Kharagpur student Abhishek Pant bags Rs 2 Crore pay offer from Google

Google has offered a whopping Rs 2 crore per annum pay offer to Abhishek Pant, a student of Computer Science program at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. The pay offer is said to be the highest from Google and has broken all the placement records so far.

According to Times of India, Earlier this year, Abhishek Pant had done a three-month internship at Google California and successfully faced rigorous round of interviews before being appointed into the design solutions cell of the Google. Abhishek has tremendous academic records. He topped in the CBSE Std X exams with 97.6% marks.

Pant was born and brought up in the US before his family shifted to Pune in 2006. His parents were worried that how Pant would adjust himself in the extremely different education system when they moved to Pune. But Pant kept himself focused on studies and bagged a desirable job.

“The journey from Pune to Kharagpur and Kharagpur to Google Mount View in California has been quite exciting. I had a great experience working there as an intern. A job offer is the icing on the cake,” Pant told to TOI.

Pant cleared two rounds of technical interviews over the phone for the internship. At the end of the internship, Pant was offered the job, for which he had to go through another set of interviews. He will join the Google in September next year.

Recently, Chetan Kakkar, a student of Delhi Technology University bagged a job offer of $1,90,000 (Rs 1.25 crore approx) per annum from Google. Indian students are showing their potentials and getting better rewards for it too.

Interestingly, a query on popular question and answer website Quora asks how Chetan Kakkar managed to negotiate a salary of $1,90,000?

“I just read a news article about Chetan Kakkar’s hiring. I don’t know if he is on Quora.

I can certainly say with confidence that there was no negotiations. Do not believe media. The $190K package probably includes the sign on bonus, the relocation bonus and the some other allowances also. It is not the basic pay.

The media just bloats up the package without revealing the detail. And this is why engineering is often hyped. I totally urge all the people who actually got such offers to clear out the vagueness of the compensation that is being offered to them. Either keep it a secret or give full details.”

Acknowledging the answer, Chetan Kakkar replied:

“Ashish Kedia is correct, there were no negotiations. My package is probably exactly the same as everyone else who got an offer from Google Mountain View.

You can confirm that last year NSIT quoted similar figures.”

Lenovo Vibe S1 with Dual-selfie cameras launched in India; Specifications, Features And Price

Lenovo has finally launched the Vibe S1 in India. It is perhaps the world’s first smartphone with dual front-facing cameras. It sports 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras. The company at the time of the launch said, "The 8-megapixel primary front camera takes the sharpest photos and a 2-megapixel secondary front camera analyses depth of field information."

The handset also sports several built-in photo editing tools such as Blur, which allows refocusing anywhere on the selfie (up to 3 focal plains), and Cut Out, which allows users to cut out people from a selfie and then superimpose them on another image.

The Vibe S1 comes with a 5-inch full HD display. The display and curved glass at the back, both are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to keep scratches at bay. Powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core processor, the Vibe S1 is paired with 3GB of RAM and Mali T760 GPU. Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 rolling out to Android One smartphones

Soon after releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for supported Nexus smartphones, Google also started rolling out the update to Android One smartphones. Now, the first Marshmallow update, 6.0.1 is hitting Android One smartphones with latest security patches.

It’s just a minor bug fix update before the major Android 6.1 update arrives. The Cherry Mobile Android G1 in Philippines is one of the first smartphones to get the update. However, it is not clear if the update will be made available for the Nexus smartphones or not.

A few days back, the famous HTC Insider, @LlabTooFeR had claimed that the Android 6.0.1 and 6.1 were internally being tested at Google. Now, while the Android 6.0.1 update is already here, the Android 6.1 Marshmallow isn’t expected to become available until early next year.

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Android One devices weighs about 87MB in size, but as of now, there is no information on the changelog.

Google LG Nexus 5X Price drop on (Rs. 7000) Amazon India, Snapdeal, Flipkart

The LG Nexus 5X was introduced at a starting price of Rs 31,990 for the 16GB version, while the 32GB was priced at Rs 35,990. Now the 16GB is retailing for Rs 24,990, which is a drop of Rs 7,000, while the 32GB version is available for Rs 32,439, a price drop of around Rs 3,500.

When Google had introduced the phone in India along with LG, it had defended the pricing for the new devices. Google had said that at the time that both the Nexus 5x and Huawei Nexus 6P (Specification) were premium phones offering top-end experience and specs, and that the pricing was thus right.  But now the big price drop has taken place barely a month after the launch.

One of the reasons for this can be that Google now has two Nexus smartphones to offer. A lot of Nexus lovers, the ones who might be waiting to upgrade from Nexus 5 to the new Nexus series, might just prefer the Huawei Nexus 6P.

While the Nexus 5X continues with the plastic body seen in earlier Nexus phones, the 6P is the one that truly stands out in terms of a different design and has a stunning rear and front camera to offer. Plus for Nexus fans, who are okay with spending Rs 30,000 on a phone, the difference between the 5X and 6P is not really that much.

As we noted in our review, the Nexus 5X does not have an inspiring specs sheet, especially for Rs 30K and above price it was charging. The plastic design is unlikely to woo new users, especially those who want a premium looking device.

Facebook’s ‘Work Chat’ gets its own messaging app; Available in iOS & Android

If you are waiting for ‘Facebook At Work’ to come to your workstation so that you can work closely with colleagues, now get ready for another feature that you would never like to miss ‘Work Chat’.

Dubbed as the version of Facebook designed for office environment, Facebook at Work will also have Work Chat similar to Facebook Messenger that will allows coworkers to message each other individually, Techcrunch reported.

The enterprise version of Facebook looks a lot like the consumer version of Facebook, and includes its own website as well as Facebook at Work mobile applications for iOS and Android. 

The chat service will also allow colleagues to participate in group chats, share photos and videos and make voice calls.

The "Facebook At Work" has been in private testing since its unveiling this January and several companies are using this.

According to the report, Facebook has 300 businesses using its "Facebook At Work" platform as of today.

The "Work Chat" application is available on Google Play store and according to the company, the iOS version is in the works.

'Work Chat' is live now on the Google Play store, but is only available to use by those who are currently testing the Facebook At Work service," the report added.

The enterprise version looks like the consumer version of Facebook. Employers can set up new accounts for their staff to use on the platform.

Lenovo Says Committed to Manufacturing in India(Launch New Logo & Teg Line); Moto X Force Due Soon

Announcing its new logo and tagline in India, Chinese technology major Lenovo on Wednesday said it was committed to India in terms of investment in areas of manufacturing and research and development. The company also revealed upcoming products for the Indian market.

"In three years, we have reached a revenue of $2.5 billion (roughly Rs. 16,540 crores) in India compared to a target of $800 million (roughly Rs. 5,292 crores) when we came to this country which is fast evolving in the area of technology," said Lenovo chairman and chief executive Yang Yuanqing.

"I have committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Lenovo's involvement in Digital India and Make-in-India campaign" he said.

"We are looking to be the top four of 50 companies operating in India. Currently we are third in terms of rank in the smartphones category," he added.

He also said that Lenovo will be investing in research and development in India, and that aside from hardware, we should expect software that is made in India. At the event, Motorola India head Amit Boni also mentioned that the Moto X Force was coming soon, but did not share any details of when, or at what price. The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro tablet is also going to be available in India soon, he added.

At the event, Lenovo Chief Marketing Officer David Roman also showed off the company's new logo, unveiled earlier this year. A first in that it was crowd-sourced with ideas taken from the brand's followers, finalised into a new look. Along with that, he also showed off Lenovo's new tagline, "Innovation never stands still".

Apple accepts there is problem with iPad Pro - Screen blackout & freeze after charging

Apple has published a document saying the company is aware of complaints over an issue with the new iPad Pro.

Apple customers are complaining that some units of the giant-sized iPad Pro are experiencing an issue that causes the device to stop working when it's being charged.

The company added that it "is aware of this issue and is investigating."

Several users of Apple's new 12.9-inch tablet have taken to discussion forums and social media to complain about how the device's screen refuses to turn back after charging.

A user going with the name 'darkfire.shadows' wrote on Apple's support website:

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Samsung Galaxy J3 Official in China; Specification & Price

Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 are excellent entry level handsets, offering a decent mix of performance and affordability. The South Korean vendor is now expending its offerings in the series with the Galaxy J3, which just launched in China.The Galaxy J3 has been listed on Samsung's official website for China.

Samsung's new Galaxy J3 smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 720x1280 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor alongside 1.5GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal storage which is expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card. The 4G LTE-capable Galaxy J3 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company's custom TouchWiz UI on top.

The phone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel camera up-front. Connectivity options include: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 2,600mAh battery.

Price :

The phone looks like an interesting addition to Samsung's J-series that also includes phones like the Galaxy J5 and J7. These are budget to lower mid-range phones and the Galaxy J3 is also expected to be priced on similar lines.

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy On5 and On7 phones in India at Rs.8,990 and Rs.10,990 respectively. The Galaxy On5 and On7 boast of a faux leather back cover encased within a metal frame. 

First Pepsi Android Smartphone P1s - 5.5 Full HD Display, 4G, Fingerprint Sensor Starting at $110

It was only last month when food and beverage company Pepsi revealed its plans to introduce a phone under its brand name, and now the company has taken the wraps off its first phone.

PepsiCo Inc revealed that it was planning on launching an Android smartphone in China. A month later, it has unveiled the Pepsi Phone P1s in China.

PepsiCo however isn’t giving up on its beverage business and venturing into manufacturing smartphones. Instead, it has roped in Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. Ltd to manufacture a smartphone with Pepsi’s brand on it. As mentioned above, the smartphone is restricted to the Chinese market and the company has unveiled two variants – the standard variant called Pepsi P1, and the FDD-LTE supporting variant called P1s.

Pepsi Phone P1s price :

The smartphones are listed on crowdfunding website jd.com, and were first spotted by FoneArena. The campaign aims to reach 3,000,000 Yuan ($46,9950) by December 3, and at the time of filing this story it had managed to raise 568,599.

"If the phone successfully hits its funding goal of $46,9950 by December 3, it will officially launch at around $200 with a special FDD-LTE variant headed to China Unicom as the P1s," reports Daily Mail.

The smartphone at the early bird price of 499 Yuan has been sold out, and currently is available at 699 Yuan or Rs 7,200 (INR) approximately. At this price the smartphone will be available with a protective cover, USB cable and a charger.

Pepsi Phone P1s specifications and features:

The Pepsi Phone P1s flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved screen display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor paired with Mali 450-MP4 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Also on offer is 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, 5 MP selfie camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and a fingerprint scanner located at the back.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.1 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under dido OS 6.1.

Introducing the New Bing App for iPhone; Find & Book Faster

The company started pushing an update to its iOS app bumping the version to 6.0. The updated Bing app is now available to download via App Store. It's worth noting that the app is currently not available for users in India.

Microsoft says that the app has received complete makeover and touts, "Welcome to a new Bing. Everything you love about Bing just got better" on the App Store listing page.

Some of the changes that the Bing iOS app gets include a redesigned homepage which will now allow users to see restaurants, movies, images, and videos, as well as recommendations for deals or attractions nearby with just one tap. The Bing search home page now also include few quick tap options for Near Me, Restaurants, Movies, Images, and Videos among others.

One of the biggest highlights of the revamped Bing app is it brings app-based search results that now throw results in a similar way to Google's Search on Android. The Bing search now shows search results with relevant apps based on the search content. The search results on Bing will also show Google Now Card-inspired information cards instead of just Web links as search results.

Google Maps Available Offline in India; How to Download Offline Maps Step by Step

Steps 1 :

Open Google Maps click on Three bar menu button on the top left corner & tap on Offline Area.

Steps 2 :

Click On "Offline areas" than after open bellow screen & Click "+" Plus button Right bellow side.

Steps 3 :

You pinch to zoom in /zoom out and select the area map you wish to download. At the bottom, it will also show you amount of offline data, the needs to download and the available space in the phone memory.

To download the offline data, you need to be connected to a Wi-Fi, while the earlier data download limit 10MB, it has now been raised 400MB. The will expire in 30 days, after which you will have to update it to use. There is an option where you can manually updates the maps as well.

Steps 4 :

Now even if the mobile data off, you can search for direction within the map area. It will not only display the route form source to destination, but also offer offline turn by turn VOICE navigation. For offline directions to work accurately, the GPS on your Phone should be Turn ON. While you do get offline navigation, for satellite view and traffic info the phone should be connected to the Internet. 

HTC One M9s Specification & Features; launch in Taiwan on November 21

HTC has announced a new mid-range Android smartphone called One M9s. Joining the One family, the new smartphone is an affordable variant of this year’s flagship, the One M9.

Besides the One M9s, there is another variant called the One M9+, which is equipped with slightly amped up hardware. However, this is not the first time that HTC has launched variant of its popular smartphone.

Earlier, it had also launched two variants for last year’s One M8 – the One (M8 Eye) with a 13-megapxiel rear camera instead of an ultrapixel sensor, and the One M8s equipped with Snapdragon 615 processor instead of Snapdragon 801.

Specification :

The HTC One M9s will ship with a 5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 2.2GHz 64-Bit Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 SoC with PowerVR G6200 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, a 13-megapixel f/2.0 BSI rear camera with sapphire cover, and a 4-UltraPixel f/2.0 front camera with Flash and Dual-LED. It will have a 2840mAh battery, and support both NFC and microSD.

Connectivity :  Wi-Fi, GPS, FM, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India)

Price :

The One M9s will be available in Taiwan starting November 21 and will be priced at TWD 12,900, which roughly translates to Rs 25,500. However, there is no word on whether HTC plans to launch the smartphone in India and other worldwide markets, yet.

Apple to launch a 4-inch iPhone 6C in Mid-2016

It’s only November, but Apple’s 2016 iPhone plans are starting to crystallize slowly but surely. According to a short message posted on the Weibo network by IHS Technology Research Director Kevin Wang, Apple is planning to release a 4-inch iPhone 6c in mid-2016.

Notably, this isn’t the first indication that Apple’s 2016 iPhone lineup may hit store shelves a little bit earlier than usual. Not too long ago, the typically reliable Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities issued a research note indicating that Apple in early 2016 is planning to launch a 4-inch iPhone model with an A9 processor.

Kuo also claimed that Apple has roped in Foxconn to be the sole manufacturer of the 4-inch iPhone and expects to ship 20 to 30 million iPhones by the end of next year. As per Kuo Apple is likely to launch the iPhone sometime in the first half of 2016, a claim reiterated by Kevin Wang from Analytics company ISH.

iPhone Screen Size

Kuo says that the iPhone will feature a metal casing as opposed to the plastic casing of the iPhone 5C. It will be powered by an A9 processor that can easily handle iOS 9 and iOS 10, but won’t feature 3D Touch display, seen on the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

As for the iPhone 7, Kuo says that Apple is likely to continue with the same display sizes as the current-gen iPhones. They will however be powered by a new A10 processor, and the two variants will feature 2GB of RAM, and 3GB of RAM respectively.

Despite there being no indications from Apple, rumors about a smaller iPhone refuse to die. Coupled with Kuo’s relatively good track record, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Apple finally launch the smartphone next year.
