Last
week, reports of Google making two of its own Android Wear smartwaches surfaced
online, and now leaked images of the two wearables have made their way to the
Web. The previous report tipped that the two smartwatches have been codenamed
Angelfish and Swordfish, and are expected to launch after the Nexus devices in
fall this year.
The
images have been leaked by Android Police, and it warns that the smartwatches
have been recreated, in order to keep the source anonymous. The report asserts
that the image is an 'accurate representation' of the leak, however it does not
guarantee that the final product may look the same.
The
bigger wearable on the left is the Angelfish, which is said to feature a diameter
of 43.5mm. Thankfully there is no flat tyre marring the experience like you see
on the Moto 360. In line with the previous report, you can see the three
physical buttons on the side, and the smartwatch also features GPS, LTE, and a
heart-rate monitor.
The
Swordfish, on the right, is smaller with a diameter of 42mm and only comes with
one crown button on the side. Unlike the Angelfish, there is a ‘small
amount of circular display bezel’. This is believed to be the affordable variant and won’t include
features like GPS, LTE or heart-rate monitor.
Of the
two, the Swordfish is expected to support Android Wear‘s MODE
wrist bands, which lets users easily swap bands. Both smartwatches will run on
Android Wear 2.0 and will also have Google Assistant integrated. The latest
wearable operating system brings in new watch faces, improved messaging
experience, auto exercise recognition feature, and support for standalone apps
to name a few. The renders also show new customizable watch faces that users
will get on Android Wear 2.0, which show different information on the
homescreen itself.
