Motorola Moto C, Moto C Plus entry-level smartphones with Android Nougat, Front Flash launched: Price, specifications and features



Lenovo-backed Motorola will be launching a slew of new smartphones this year. According to numerous reports, Motorola is expected to upgrade its Moto Z and Moto X series in the mid-range and premium segments. Motorola has now unveiled a new series of budget smartphones, the Moto C and the Moto C Plus. The 3G variant of the Moto C will be priced at €89 (Rs 6,300 approximately) and the 4G variant at €99 (Rs 7,000 approximately), while the Moto C Plus will be priced at €119 (Rs 8,400 approximately). Motorola says that the smartphones will be available this spring in various markets across Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Moto C and Moto C Plus smartphones feature a micro-textured back. In terms of design and look, the smartphones are similar to the leaked renders. Sporting a Moto M look, the Moto C and Moto C Plus has a clean design with the capacitive touch buttons on the front, the circular camera lens on the rear and Moto branding placed below it. The speaker grille is placed on the rear end, the power button and volume rocker are on the right. The 3.5mm audio jack along with the USB port is placed on the top.

As expected from Motorola, the smartphones are available in four color options of Metallic Cherry, Pearl White, Fine Gold and Starry Black. The availability of the different colors would depend on the region. Although the Moto C series provide adequate specifications in the budget segment, the smartphones lack fingerprint sensor.

Moto C specifications

The smaller variant of the two, the Moto C features a 5-inch FWVGA display. Under the hood of the smartphone, it runs a MediaTek quad-core processor. In terms of memory, the Moto C comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the Moto C sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Moto C Plus specifications

The Moto C Plus, comes with the same display size of 5-inch but with HD resolution. The smartphone is also powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor. The Moto C Plus is also packed with 1GB of RAM but a bigger 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB. For photography, the Moto C Plus sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Moto C Plus gets a bigger bump in terms of power, as it comes with a 4,000mAh battery. The Moto C Plus also runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone comes with dual-SIM support.
