Xiaomi Redmi 4 launched in India with Snapdragon 435 SoC, 4GB RAM, 4,100mAh battery price starts at Rs 6,999: Specifications, features

As expected, Xiaomi has today launched the Redmi 4 in India. The new smartphone will be available in three variants, priced at Rs 6,999, Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999. The Redmi 4 will be going on sale next week on May 23, on Amazon India and mi.com. The sale kicks off at 12:00PM.

As you can see from the above image, Xiaomi has opted for a design language that is the same as the Redmi Note 4. So in essence you get a device with metal unibody, curved edges, and a 2.5D curved glass on top of the screen. What it really looks like is a Redmi Note 4 crammed into a smaller form factor, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 specifications, features

As far as specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 flaunts a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS display with 296ppi and wrapped under a 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 octa-core SoC. The three variants are differentiated on the basis of RAM and storage. The base variant comes with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM, the mid variant comes with 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM, while the more expensive variant comes with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

For photography, the Redmi 4 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) support. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calling.

The rest of the features include a fingerprint sensor placed at the back, and a 4,100mAh battery that is good enough to last more than a day on a single charge. Xiaomi claims that the battery is good enough to offer up to 36 hours of talktime, and up to 430 hours on standby mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. On the software front, the device runs on Android Marshmallow wrapped under MIUI 8 out-of-the-box.
